Penny Webb - Bass Guitar, Vocals
Penny’s musical experience began in the fifth grade with the flute. She played in the school band throughout her years of public school in Puyallup, and marched in six daffodil parades. Not content to stay in the woodwind section, she picked up the guitar in college and mastered three power chords and two Beatles songs. In the Spring of 2004, her idea for a mommy punk band led her to the bass guitar which she always has a secret desire to play (having loved Tina Weyworth and the chick from Guadalcanal Diary). A stay-at-home mother of two children, Penny’s lyrics capture the amusing and trying episodes of the day-to-day life of raising kids.

Jen Trujillo—Guitar, Vocals
At Gilbert Elementary in Yakima, only the fifth and sixth graders could be in the school’s choir. When Jen was in the fourth grade, some snooty fifth grader told her, “You don’t have what it takes to make choir,” and Jen’s vocal career began. She sang through high school and community college in the symphonic and jazz choirs, but quit BCC when she got into a band, “Acid Cats Flying Circus,” deciding that there was more to learn about music by being a part of the Seattle scene. Later, she played with “Sick Little Monkey” where she discovered she could also play drums. She also became a booking agent for the Lake Union Pub (anyone remember that dive?) and the bands “Liquid Zoo” and “Bumpin’ Uglies.” At the ripe old age of 25, she realized she wasn’t going to pay the bills as a rock goddess and decided to finish college, have babies, and get married. She used a financial aid check to buy a guitar, taught herself the basics, and wrote a few sad songs. Penny’s call in August 2004 was a welcome invitation to smell the glove yet again. Also a mother of two, a freelance bookkeeper and co-owner of a local construction company, she somehow manages to find time to write music and manage the band.

Kirsten Hamann —Drums
Kirsten is a fellow mom of two, who decided last fall that more than anything she wanted to be the drummer for the Kegels.  So, she put her nose to grindstone to make it happen.  You can witness her amazing progress from “never drummed before” to “goddess of the skins” at two upcoming PTA fundraising gigs this spring.

"The Kegelettes" —Back-up Vocals
Katharine and Amy are a couple of Ballard moms giving us some good lovin' on two numbers, "Kegel Beat" and "Sufferin' for Suffrage." Katharine has a background in musical theater and is a fellow preschool mommy with two youngins. Also a mother of two, Amy sang jazz vocals in college and also plays a mean fiddle when she gets a chance.
